When winter is coming, Koreans always carry some cash in their pocket, just in case they come across food carts on the street.

The most popular snacks are 'Boongeo-ppang(붕어빵)' and 'Hotteok(호떡)'.
What's more, 'Hoppang(호빵', 'Gungoguma(군고구마)' and 'Eomuk(어묵)' are typical winter snacks of Korea.

'Boongeo-ppang', is a fish-shaped pastry stuffed with sweet red bean paste(단팥).

It is crispy on the outside and taste real good when it's just baked in the fish-shaped mold.
This is probably the most popular winter snack these days.
When Boongeo-ppang cart is nearby your place, koreans say 'You're living in Boolng-sekwon(붕세권)', which means you're privilged to get Boongeo-ppang easily.
It literally shows how much koreans love Boongeo-ppang!

'Hotteok' is a type of Korean style pancake filled with brown sugar syrup and cinnamon inside.

It is almost fried on pan, making crust crispy and brown sugar syrup melted softly.
You need to be careful when you take a bite, that the syrup might be super hot and it might even flow out from pancake making your hands or clothes dirty.

'Gungoguma' is a baked sweet potato.

During the winter, when we have a bonfire or go camping, we bring sweet potato wrapped in aluminum foil to cook it in the fire.

Likewise, you can also see Gungoguma on the street, in a weird looking baking machine.
It smells AMAZING so it won't be easy just to pass it.

'Eomuk' is a fishcake consisted of minced/ground fish and seafoods.

Koreans love Eomuk especially in winter, because it is served with hot anchovy broth.
We usually eat Eomuk with Ddeok-bokki(떡볶이) or Soondae(순대), that are considered to be the best combination with Eomuk!
